It sounds logical enough.
Do more and more workouts and you will lose more and more weight.
Unfortunately it doesn’t usually work.
For starters exercise just isn’t that great at burning calories. Try running off 3500 of them (approx 1lb of body fat) and you will see what I mean. It’s depressing, soul-sapping and ineffective.
Even more importantly doing more and more workouts also tends to trigger a series of unintended consequences which further sabotage your weight loss efforts.
Reduced Activity Levels
After a tough workout you are likely to be more static for the rest of the day thereby offsetting any extra calories you burnt you during your workout session.
Increased Appetite
You will also probably experience a surge in appetite leading to a higher energy intake again offsetting any extra calories you burnt during your workout session.
Physical And Mental Burnout
Last but not least doing more and more workouts (for the majority of people) is unsustainable. Eventually you will burn out either mentally or physically and be back to square one.
Bit doom and gloom but none of this diminishes the thoroughly worthwhile pursuit of trying to improve your health and fitness through exercise.
Just avoid relying on it as a weight loss tool. For that your eating habits remain king!
