Create Friction For Bad Habits

Most of our day to day behaviour is dictated by habits not decisions. Or put another way we largely run on autopilot.

One way to steer this autopilot function in a more positive direction is to create extra friction around the habits and behaviours you want to avoid.

Some classic examples include emptying your cupboards of junk food or deleting time consuming apps from your phone. Now you can’t reach for a bag of crisps without going to the store. And you can’t vanish down a sinkhole of clickbait without reinstalling the app.

Change is hard.

Make it easier on yourself by creating friction around the behaviours you want to avoid.
