Cheerleaders, Smart Cars And Breaking Down Under Load

Earlier this summer Comets Cheerleaders equalled a Guinness World Record by squeezing 20 team members into a two-seater smart car. An impressive display of claustrophobic-defying flexibility!

Needless to say the car was undrivable. Quite apart from having body parts squashed up against the windscreen, pedals and steering wheel, smart-cars are simply not built to carry this much load.

Machines which exceed their loading capacity hasten their own demise! Brakes fail, suspensions buckle, structures implode.

The human body is little different. Excessive loading causes our movement, muscles and soft tissues to breakdown. Possibly sooner, definitely later!

Remember this when it comes to resistance training. We want to challenge our body, we don’t want to destroy our body.
