How Long Should You Be Working Out For?

How long should your workouts be?

As long as needed to stimulate a positive improvement in fitness.

And in my experience that’s not very long.

30 minutes, often way less, is more than enough.

The arbitrary 60 minute workout is really a by-product of gyms, studios and trainers looking for a convenient way to structure their schedules. It has very little to do with optimal workout duration!

Longer workouts can be beneficial if they form part of your social life. Or are used as a way to decompress after a tough day at work.

But it’s not a very efficient way to train.

Most of us can achieve all the benefits we want from hard exercise… in a remarkably short period of time!
