Treat Treats As Treats
“There is nothing wrong with special occasion foods, as long as everyday is not a special occasion” - Michael Pollan.
Obsessing over food rules is unnecessary and bad for your happiness.
Keep the classic 80/20 rule in mind, enjoy the occasional splurge but don’t let it snowball.
Interestingly many people report a positive feedback loop whereby the more healthy food they eat, the better they feel and the less attractive junk food becomes. This makes it easier and easier to keep the treats in balance.
Another reiteration of this idea which I like is the S-Policy:
Save sweets, snacks and seconds for special occasions!
