We all want some pleasure in our lives.
And that’s cool.
But counterintuitively too much of it soon backfires and becomes a form of punishment.
Too much junk food leads to weight gain and poor health. Too much television leads to poor physical fitness. Too much social media leads to mental dissatisfaction.
The list could go on.
Despite knowing the harmful consequences, it can be extremely challenging to break free from many of these habits due to the immediate pleasure they provide. Food companies, tech companies and entertainment companies know there is big money to be made exploiting these pleasure-circuits in our brains… and they do so with gusto!
Nothing wrong with a bit of pleasure now and then.
But it’s important to realise too much of it eventually becomes a punishment.
